Who manages Østmarka?
The County Governor of Østfold, Buskerud, Oslo and Akershus has the overall responsibility for the management. The County Governor cooperates with the contact committee, which consists of representatives from the various municipalities, and an advisory committee that is to represent the different interest organizations in the area. In the long term, a national park board will be established, composed of politicians from the municipalities.
What does the management authority do?
The management authority processes applications for exemptions under the protection regulations for Østmarka National Park and the Østmarka Outdoor Recreation Area. Each year, they request state funds for management, visitor handling, information work, and for habitat management and nature restoration.
